A: Yes, a Breast Radiologist is an expert in breast imaging. Breast Radiologists interpret screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds and MRIs. Breast Radiologists are also skilled in performing all breast diagnostic procedures including ultrasound, stereotactic and MRI guided needle biopsies of the breast, and wire/radiofrequency seed localizations.
Q: What are the qualifications and certifications of a Breast Radiologist and Advanced Radiology’s Breast Imaging Center?
A: The Breast Radiologist has completed four years of medical school, one-year internship, four-year diagnostic radiology residency and many have an additional one-year breast imaging fellowship. Your Breast Radiologist is part of a dedicated team of breast imaging specialists who are all board certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR), ensuring you are receiving the highest quality breast imaging care. Every technologist is board certified and the imaging equipment at Advanced Radiology’s Breast Imaging Center meets all quality standards set forth by the FDA and the ACR (American College of Radiology).
Q: How does my Breast Radiologist partner with my breast health team?
A: In addition to interpreting all your breast imaging studies and performing your diagnostic procedures, Breast Radiologists are an important consultant for other physicians. They assist in choosing the most appropriate breast imaging study for you and correlate imaging findings with other exams. When clinically appropriate, the Breast Radiologist will also recommend additional studies or diagnostic procedures.
