Epilepsy- Do you Know the Symptoms?

Epilepsy affects people across different age groups with varying severity. It is estimated that 1 in 26 people in the United States will develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime.* Epilepsy symptoms occur when brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior. With proper epilepsy treatment, many types of seizures can be effectively treated. Brain imaging can play a crucial, early role in the diagnosis and management of patients affected by epilepsy.

Symptoms:

  • Loss of consciousness or awareness

  • Temporary confusion

  • Difficulty speaking, swallowing and walking

  • Involuntary jerking movements of the arms and legs

  • Psychological symptoms such as fear, anxiety, or déjà vu

  • Recurrent, unprovoked seizures

While it is never too early to assess your brain health, if you suspect that you or a loved one may be affected by a neurological issue, speak with a medical professional.

Contact Advanced Radiology if your physician feels brain imaging is needed to assist with diagnosis. Rest assured that we offer leading-edge equipment in a comfortable, convenient setting.
