ADVANCED RADIOLOGY OFFERS STRONGEST OPEN MRI

Advanced Radiology, the largest radiology practice in the state of Maryland and one of the largest in the United States, announces the enhancement of its MRI service with the addition of the highest available field strength Open MRI.

With the addition of the state-of-the-art .3 Tesla Hitachi Airis Open MRI unit, Advanced Radiology now provides the highest quality and best resolution Open MRI in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The Open MRI is offered at four locations including our Pomona Square office in Pikesville, our Crain Towers office in Glen Burnie, our Whitesquare Imaging Cetner next to Franklin Square Hospital and our Columbia office in Little Patuxent Parkway.

"Advanced Radiology now provides the highest level MRI services available in the area by offering the highest quality conventional and now Open MRI," said Michael Sherman, M.D., Chairman of the Board of Advanced Radiology. "Additionally, our films are read and interpreted by physicians specifically trained in subspecialty areas of radiology."

The role of our Open MRI is to accommodate patients with special needs, including those who are claustrophobic, of large body circumference, or children needing parental accompaniment. Our Open MRI offers the largest opening of any MRI in the area, providing maximum light and air flow. It is more spacious and more comfortable than conventional scanners and can accommodate patients in excess of 500 pounds.

"The magnet room was specifically designed to allay the anxieties of claustrophobic patients," said Dr. Charles Weiner, of Advanced Radiology. "A Washington, D.C. artist has hand painted the ceillings and walls to simulate an outdoor mountain scene."

Advanced Radiology has extensive experience in MRI by pioneering the use of MRI in the Baltimore metropolitan area, installing its first system in 1985.

With more than 80 physicians in a variety of subspecialties, Advanced Radiology also provides full diagnostic radiology services including mammography, nuclear medicine, CT scanning, P.E.T., interventional and ultrasound imaging services at over 20 sites in Baltimore, Carroll, Anne Arundel and Harford counties.
