How is the screening done?

 

Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring, Diagnostic Imaging ToolThis safe and painless procedure is performed with an ultra-fast CT Scanner that takes multiple pictures of the moving heart. The entire procedure takes only minutes. A special computer program analyzes the images and determines the presence and amount of calcium.

Who should consider having a CACS Test?

 Anyone with two or more of the following risk factors:

 

• Men over 45
• High blood pressure
• Women over 55
• High stress lifestyle
• Smoker or 2nd hand exposure
• Sedentary lifestyle
• High cholesterol
• Obesity
• Family history of coronary artery disease
• Diabetes

 

Will my insurance pay for this screening test?

 

Unfortunately, this test is currently not covered by insurance. We are pleased to offer this test at a reduced rate of $75. Payment is due at the time of service. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

 

Do I need a referral?

 

Yes. You will need a signed referral from your physician to schedule this exam.

 

How do I get my results?

 

After the exam is reviewed by one of our expert radiologists, the results will be mailed to you and your physician.
