Advanced Radiology continually has pioneered cutting-edge technological advances:

  • In 1982, we opened one of the first outpatient CT scanners in Maryland.
  • In 1985, we operated the first outpatient MRI scanner in central Maryland.
  • In 1991, we were among the first to create comprehensive Women's Imaging Centers that offer screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, breast cyst aspiration and stereotactic biopsy. Our screening mammography program, which now performs more than 150,000 mammograms each year, was the first large scale program in Maryland and served as a template for other programs nationally.
  • In 1998, we opened Maryland’s first dedicated outpatient PET scanner and we have now upgraded all of our PET scanners to PET/CT scanners to allow patients to benefit from PET/CT’s more advanced diagnostic capabilities.
Advanced Radiology currently has some of the most sophisticated imaging equipment available, including high strength MRI scanners, multi-detector CT scanners, PET/CT scanners, and multiple dual-head nuclear SPECT imaging scanners. We now also offer Coronary CT Angiography in some of our centers to help patients detect heart and vascular problems without cardiac catheterization.
