Now Available! Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring
Advanced offers Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring (CACS) at three of its centers for convenient, non-invasive assessment of calcium deposits in the coronary arteries.
In 2007, the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology’s Clinical Expert Consensus Task Force deemed it reasonable to use this CT heart scan for asymptomatic patients with intermediate coronary heart disease risk (those with a 10-20% 10-year estimated risk). A high CAC score reclassifies patients to a higher risk status, modifying their cardiovascular management.
Who should consider having a CACS test?
Anyone with two or more of the following risk factors:
• Men over 45 • High blood pressure
• Women over 55 • High stress lifestyle
• Smoker or 2nd hand exposure • Sedentary lifestyle
• High cholesterol • Obesity
• Diabetes • Family history of coronary artery disease
